About Us

The Indus World School and its sister concern, the Ananda School, are promoted by the Nalanda Foundation (NF) - an educational society created with the sole aim of providing quality learning comparable to the best in the world. NF was co-founded by a passionate group of educators, who aim to contribute directly to society and nation building. This eclectic group of professionals is from various fields: Technology, Management, Design, etc. and are alumni of leading institutes in the country, viz. IITs, IIMs and NID. They share a common vision of 'a place of learning with a difference' - one that is futuristic, and nurtures tomorrow's leaders.

Here is a brief profile of some of the key people at Nalanda Foundation (NF), the group behind Indus World School:

Satya Narayanan R, the Chairman and Chief mentor at NF, is a renowned speaker in Indian academic circles. He has trained thousands of students, teachers and corporate executives and is, according to many sections of the media, the moving force behind several pioneering initiatives in the Asian education market.

Gopal Karunakaran is a passionate educator, who believes that well-trained and motivated human capital is the key element in any organization. He has had a diverse profile, during the 27 years he spent in the Indian Army as a top flight officer and instructor. After completing the Higher Command course in 2005, he had a stint at the Army Headquarters in the Personnel Branch, from where he took the unusual step to take early retirement to commit himself fully to education and towards changing lives.

R Shiva Kumar is an alumnus of IIT and IIM and has more than a decade of experience teaching mathematics and science for engineering and medical entrance examinations. His ultimate goal in Indus World School is to make science easy and understandable at the primary school level.

R Sreenivasan is an M Tech and holds an MBA from IIM. His mission involves facilitating children to use their right brain. He brings in confluence of theatre and art into all levels of school curricula. Sreeni brings with him immense experience, not only in the area of education but also performing and fine arts, providing alongside an entrepreneurial dimension to the Indus World Schools.

Gautam Puri, an engineer and an MBA from IIM, runs a multi-crore-education company (one of Asia’s largest). His goal at IWS is to completely redefine the way mathematics is taught at school.

Sujit Bhattacharyya, also an IIT-IIM alumnus, brings a passion for the right use of technology combined with a love for education into Indus World School. His hands-on experience in various Silicon Valley start-ups backs him in his endeavours.

Prof. Aaditya Lohana, a Chartered Accountant and holding a degree of Law was a faculty with one of the biggest colleges of Mumbai, Mithibai College.

He has over 22 years of teaching experience and has spent good enough time with students right from the primary school level to post graduation.

He has conceived, conceptualized and developed a number of educational services both with a social service perspective and otherwise. He is immensely popular with students because of the interest he takes in their academic performance and personality development. Lohana's Test Series was initiated by him in 1992 with a purpose to hone writing skills of Class IX, X, XII and Final Year degree students.

He has conducted more than 800 seminars and workshops on different topics related to students and parents and has been an editor for 25 publications of Class X and XII notes of Maharashtra Board.
